George Dakin was just going about his day when all of sudden, he went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully, nearby was a homeless man named Austin Davis, who stepped in to help. George Dakin dropped his wife off at the terminal to get the ferry tickets as he went to park the car- and that's the last thing he remembers before going into cardiac arrest. His heart stopped for 28-minutes.
When George finally came to, he was just in disbelief about the whole incident. Then he remembers his wife Jodi telling him that a homeless man (Austin Davis) performed CPR to save his life.
Austin Davis learned CPR years ago while staying at the Champ Homes. When Austin got to the scene, someone was already trying to perform CPR on George. That's when Austin knew the situation was dire, then stepped in to help.
Today, Austin is apart of the Dakin family! Jodie played a major role to help Austin. She set up a Go Fund Me page for Austin immediately and started getting donations. From that money, she was able to get Austin a nice used car and insure it for a year. At the time of the incident, Austin was only working part-time but now he’s working full time at a hotel. And he now is renting a room from a friend. Jodie continues to work with Austin to set up a rainy day fund and savings account.
Steve Harvey and a couple of his friends want to help Austin also! Steve reached out to his friends at Marshalls who was inspired by Austin's story. They want to help refresh his wardrobe with quality brands at amazing prices. Which is why Marshalls surprised Austin with a $5,000 shopping spree!
That's not all, Steve also reached out to his friends at Home Goods, where people can find great high-quality items for your home at incredible savings. They want to make sure Austin has everything to create his perfect home. So they’re also sending him on a $5,000 shopping spree!
Special thanks to our friends at Marshalls and Home Goods for partnering with us!
